As a lifelong Star Wars fan, it’s safe to say I’ve spent my fair share of money on collectibles over the years. However, I’ve never shelled out thousands of dollars on a single movie prop, nor do I have any plans to do so. That is, of course, unless I miraculously win a boatload of cash in the lottery or something. One piece of Star Wars history is about to hit the auction block, and I would imagine that bidding on this one will be out of this galaxy.

Which 'Star Wars' Film Featured the Prop That Is Up for Auction?

StarWars.Com

The item going up for auction was used during a scene in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The film, which hit screens everywhere in May 1977, was the first piece of Star Wars content ever produced—the first of many films, television series, books, comics, and so forth. The prop can be seen in one of the film's most iconic scenes when Obi-Wan waves his hand in front of a patrol of sandtroopers, telling the officer, "These aren't the droids you're looking for." Classic.

Propstore Selling Over 1,800 Items During Annual Live Auction

According to Reuters, entertainment memorabilia auctioneer Propstore will have over 1,800 items at its annual live auction, which will take place from November 14 to 17. So, which prop from the Star Wars scene mentioned above will be included? Well, it's none other than one of the sandtrooper helmets, which were all handmade by the Lucasfilm props department. Reuters added that the helmet has a price estimate of $326,900 to $654,000.

The sandtrooper helmet won't be the only Star Wars prop featured in the auction. Also up for bid will be Yoda's cane, which was used in both Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). Other props featured include Clint Eastwood's duster coat from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Michael Keaton's Batsuit from Batman Returns (1992), the 2015 resizing jacket worn by Michael J. Fox's character Marty McFly in Back to the Future Part II (1989), and several others. It looks like it's time to buy a lottery ticket.
