When it comes to pets, some people prefer dogs while others prefer cats. There are homes like mine that have both, and some that have neither, preferring instead to go the more exotic route with reptiles or maybe birds. Then there are those who prefer their pets underwater and choose to set up an aquarium which is exactly the people a new aquarium shop in southern Indiana is catering to, and its owners may have come up with the best name for it.

New Southern Indiana Aquarium Shop Name Spoofs Popular Adults-Only Social Media Network

Chances are you had or currently have a fish or two as a pet. I'm guessing those fish were/are in an aquarium or a fish bowl with colored rocks along the bottom and either a little scuba diver or treasure chest in the corner that blows bubbles as the filter pushes air into the water. I bet it even has a couple of those little green plastic plants so the fish feel like they're in their natural habitat, right? Nothing wrong with that. Those types of setups are great for anyone looking for a low-maintenance pet.

Look familiar?

Or maybe you're the type who prefers bigger, more elaborate aquariums featuring coral reefs and a variety of colored fish you've only seen in documentaries about ocean creatures. Whichever you prefer, a new aquarium store on Evansville's north side will likely have anything and everything you need, and it may just have one of the best names ever created.

According to Evansville 411 News, a local Facebook page that tracks new commercial businesses and developments coming to the southern Indiana area, "OnlyFins" will open for business on Saturday, October 7th in the Bradford Park business complex at 600 North Weinbach Avenue.

When I first saw the post, I laughed and thought the name was brilliant. In case you don't get it, the name serves two purposes. For starters, it tells you right away the only thing you'll find inside is anything and everything involving fish and keeping them as pets in your home. Secondly, it's a play on "OnlyFans," the popular, adults-only, subscription-based social media network that has become infamous since the pandemic for being a place where — hmmmm, how can I say this in the most PG-rated way possible —  NSFW content is posted by individuals whose business centers around pleasures of the flesh and can only be viewed by followers who pay a monthly subscription fee. Was that PG enough?

To be fair, that's not all it's used for. Several musicians use it to promote new music, release music videos, or give fans access to special offers not available to the general public, but it's earned a reputation for being a place to get the kind of content you keep hidden somewhere so your kids don't find it.

My hat's off to the owners of OnlyFins for creating a name that definitely draws attention and will hopefully get people through the door.
