How Many KFC Locations in Kentucky Still Have Buffets?
Do you remember KFC locations with buffets? You might be surprised by the amount that remains in the company's home state of Kentucky.
When I was a kid growing up in the 90s, my parents would always want to go out to eat at buffets. Back then, they weren't the restaurants that I typically wanted to go to, but the older I got, the more I enjoyed a nice buffet. I know that buffets sometimes get a bad rep from people, but I love them. Let's be honest, when you go to a restaurant, sometimes one plate just isn't enough. Buffets allow you to eat as much as you want. Something about "all-you-can-eat" just makes me happy, because it reminds me of my childhood.
Do You Remember KFC Buffets?
Back in the day, we would go out to eat at various buffets like Golden Corral, Siroloin Stockade, Ryan's, Old Country Buffet, and Ponderosa Steakhouse. Sadly, many of these well-known buffets have either gone out of business completely or have greatly reduced the number of locations over the years. One buffet that we used to frequent was actually the KFC buffet. Do you remember those? We are talking about juicy Kentucky Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits, green beans, and other fixings, which were served buffet style.
What Happened to KFC Buffets?
I couldn't tell you the last time that I saw a KFC location with a buffet. We used to have a few in my neck of the woods, but they shut down the buffet years ago. According to Yahoo!:
The number of buffet KFC locations was further reduced following the COVID-19 pandemic. As of 2024, the chain currently has 22 buffets open in the United States and Canada. You'll just have to be crafty in your search methods to sniff out the rarified KFC buffet.
Fortunately, there are still a few KFC locations in America that still offer the buffet. However, they are far and few between. Perhaps you have visited KFC's website to see which locations have buffets, only to find that none of the locations have them listed. Each location really just shows the address and location. There's no mention of a buffet anywhere. So how, then, can one track down a KFC buffet? Well, you'll have to get crafty and scour the internet. That's exactly what I did when I stumbled upon a Facebook group called KFC Buffet Aficionados, a group dedicated to locating these buffet-style eateries. When I found the page, I only had one question.

How Many KFC Locations in Kentucky Still Have a Buffet?
The Facebook group, KFC Buffet Aficionados has a user-created atlas of group-confirmed KFC buffets still open in America. According to the map, at least 16 KFC buffets are left in the United States, exclusively located in the South. Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, and Alabama have one; Tennessee and Mississippi each have two; and North and South Carolina each have four.
You read that correctly, there is only one location in Kentucky that still has a buffet. ONE! I'm not going to lie, it broke my heart reading that.
Where is the Last Remaining KFC Buffet in Kentucky?
If you are looking to find a KFC Buffet in Kentucky, you will have to travel to 1230 Richmond Street N, in Mount Vernon. Just to double-check, to make sure that location still has a buffet, I did a deep dive on Facebook, and people were posting about eating at the KFC Buffet in Mount Vernon earlier this month (September 2025), so it's legit.
My search of KFC buffets in Kentucky only led me to the Mount Vernon location. If, however, there is another location in Kentucky that you are 100% positive still offers the buffet, please let me know so that I can add it to the list.
