Rainbows

It doesn't matter how many rainbows I've seen in my life, they will always fascinate me and cause me to take out my phone and snap a photo. Rainbows are a fairly common occurrence after rain passes by, but what causes a rainbow?  Well if you need a super quick science lesson, rainbows are caused by the light refracting off water droplets. I'll let the Royal Meteorological Society explain:

Rainbows are formed when light from the sun is scattered by water droplets (e.g. raindrops or fog) through a process called refraction. Refraction occurs when the light from the sun changes direction when passing through a medium denser than air, such as a raindrop.

In fact, I saw a rainbow just the other day from our studio window in downtown Evansville and captured this photo (but it doesn't hold a candle to the video you're about to see).

Incredibly Vibrant Rainbow Captured on Video

Over the weekend there was much rain, and with the rain came the opportunity for a rainbow sighting, and boy did some folks get an incredible treat! EvansvilleWatch shared a video that was captured in the Fort Branch area where Kathy S. captured footage of an extremely vibrant rainbow.  Not only is this rainbow just stunning, but in the video, she is so close to the end of the rainbow, do you think she found the pot of gold?
