You Can’t Keep A Good Bar Down: Local Tavern Prepares To Re-Open
Hornville Tavern Preparing To Re-Open
We've drooled and waited, and finally the time has come. Hornville Tavern is preparing to re-open! After patiently sitting for two years, the establishment, under new ownership, is now hiring cooks, prep cooks, waiters and waitresses, and bartenders. A set opening date has not been announced yet. Locals who know Hornville's history and its delicious home cooking can't wait to see whether the new owners will introduce new recipes, keep the old ones, or offer a mix of both.
History of the Hornville Tavern
Hornville Tavern is a little piece of history for the tri-state. Located off Baseline Road in the country of Evansville (technically, it's in Euphoria, Indiana), the tavern has been around since the 1920s. In fact, it is said that the original dining room was actually a roofless dance hall. Longtime owners Deb and Butch Schneider decided to step away from the business in the mid-2000s and sold to Ben Kron and Andrew Bowlds, who grew up near the establishment. In October of 2023, they announced the business would be closing for the foreseeable future. Lucky for us, the tavern was sold to Euphoria Acres in April of 2024, a limited-liability company that is owned by Evansville resident John P. Wahnsiedler.
