With so much negativity in the world today, sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came...you know, kind of like the Cheers theme song.

Now I know that some people who live in Indiana might find it boring or have other issues with living in the state. As someone who was born and raised here in Indiana, and I plan to repeat that with my children, I can honestly say that I'm proud of my home.  Aside from the weather we have here sometimes, Indiana has a lot to offer families. Here in Indiana, we also have a lot of places full of southern hospitality. These places are full of residents who show kindness, warmth, and are welcoming of visitors to their homes or towns. I'm talking about cities and towns in the Hoosier State where neighbors actually show up for one another.

What I'm trying to say is that perhaps you might want to either visit or live in one of the friendliest places in Indiana. Well, thanks to Nextdoor, we now know the friendliest places to live in Indiana for 2026. In all honesty, looking at the list, I was kind of surprised to see a few of these cities/towns on the list.

According to High School.com, there are 682 high schools in Indiana. 555 of those are public schools, while the remaining 127 are private. A majority of those schools have chosen typical mascots to represent them, like eagles, tigers, lions, jets, patriots, and so on and so forth.
