Evansville Wartime Museum Forced to Cancel Warbird Weekend Redo
Unfortunately, this isn't an old post. The Evansville Wartime Museum has been forced to cancel their 2024 Warbird Weekend for the second time.

Warbird Weekend is the Evansville Wartime Museum's (EWM) biggest event of the year. This year, festivities would include rides on an authentic WWII-era Grumman TBM Avenger, alongside a B-25 Mitchell Bomber. However, it looks like neither will be coming to Evansville in 2024 due to one unfortunate circumstance after another.
EWM's Warbird Weekend Woes
Originally, Warbird Weekend was scheduled for Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29. However, the event was canceled after the planes reported they would be unable to fly into the area due to weather caused by Hurricane Helene. Still, the museum made the best of the situation by hosting WWII veterans and living legends John Green, Jim Hitch, and Tony Neumann.
The museum later announced they were able to reschedule the event, with everything running as originally planned. Flights were rescheduled for this Saturday and Sunday, but unfortunately, this second attempt has now also been canceled. EWM stated in a press release that they were notified by the Missouri Commemorative Air Force that the B-25 they were planning to fly to Evansville was experiencing mechanical problems and would not be flight-ready in time.
"Unfortunately, due to scheduling constraints, we will be unable to reschedule this event again," the museum said on social media. "We understand the disappointment this may cause to those who were eagerly anticipating the event, and we sincerely apologize. The safety of the crew and aircraft is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter."
Why You Should Still Visit EWM This Weekend
Despite the fact that the planes will not be soaring into the tri-state this weekend, there are still plenty of reasons to stop by, especially if you already had plans to go in the first place. For one, the museum is always getting new additions, including a brand-new Holocaust Exhibit, which just opened to the public. Additionally, the museum plans to offer rides on their tank, called "Rosie's Revenge," this weekend, which will be a ton of fun.
