You could spend a whole day shopping and still not see all the treasures inside this Southern Illinois antique store.

Flea Market and Antique Store Finds

When it comes to shopping, I love nothing more than a secondhand store.  From flea markets to thrift stores to antique stores, there is nothing more fun to me than taking a day and picking through stuff.   I think it's the thrill of the find, because when you find something that speaks to you at one of these stores, it can't easily be found again.

For instance, I love vintage holiday decorations, and in December, I found a really cool vintage Santa Claus and a 1960s-era kitschy plastic candy Christmas garland at a local flea market. and let me tell you that day I felt like I hit the lottery.  Sure, it was less of an actual lottery win and more of a personal vintage Christmas decoration lottery, but I still felt like a winner.  Photo of Santa and the garland below because of course, a secondhand score like this deserves a photoshoot!

So, recently when I saw a post from Family Destination Guide about a massive antique store in Illinois, I had to look into it, and this place looks like a serious treasure trove.

The Pink Elephant Antique Mall in Southern Illinois

Located in Livingston,  Illinois (just outside of St. Louis) sits a giant pink elephant in front of a semi-trailer with the words "ANTIQUE MALL" on it, that is the roadside marker to let you know that you're about to enter the Pink Elephant Antique Mall.

The Pink Elephant Antique Mall is located just off historic Route 66, so it's no stranger to folks stopping in when they are passing through the area.

This business has been a part of Livingston, IL since 2005. Our store is housed in the old Livingston IL high school, built in 1929. Today, it is a 30,000 square foot antique shopping mall, surrounded by historic fiberglass giants. The Pink Elephant is a favorite stop for those traveling Old Route 66.

Eclectic is an Understatement

Just looking at the outside of this building, you can tell you are in for an eclectic assortment of treasures.  There's a quaint vintage diner nestled inside of the giant ice cream cone outside, as well as a fudge factory where you can get fudge and other classic candies to satisfy your sweet tooth.

With 30,000 square feet of space to fill, the Pink Elephant Antique Mall has filled every nook and cranny with antique finds just waiting to be found by the right person.

The mall also has two retro shops The Mother Road Fudge Factory and Candy Shop and The Twistee Treats Diner. The Mother Road Fudge Factory and Candy Shop is a 1950’s themed candy store that sells homemade fudge that is made on site in a variety of flavors, caramelized roasted nuts made on sight, vintage candies, bulk candy, bulk salt water taffy, chocolates and Route 66 souvenirs. The Twistee Treats Diner is a kitschy 1950’s themed diner. The diner is in an original Twistee Treats ice cream cone shaped building with the dining area decked out in a hot pink tile floor.
