The Boonville High School Trap and Skeet Team is hosting a pretty fun fundraiser that will help get you into the Halloween spirit.

Three years ago, Boonville High School formed the Trap and Skeet Team to promote safe and responsible gun ownership. The program also opens another avenue for the students to earn scholarships for college. In order to help pay for fees, ammo, provide equipment for kids who might not be able to afford it, and travel expenses, the team has to hold fundraisers throughout the year. One fundraiser, in particular, is one that I remember them doing this time last year, and to be honest, it sounds like a scary good time!

Halloween Trail This Weekend in Boonville

Last year, the team hosted a haunted hay ride. This year, it's a little different. You can experience the Halloween Trail at the Izaak Walton Conservation Culb. The Halloween trail is about a 7-10 minute walk in the dark where the trail is filled with a wide variety of characters including a butcher, the scariest lawn care people, and Jeffrey Dahmer's cousin at a cookout. Nicole Nurrenbern, who is in charge of the event, tells me that there is a waiver of liability form that you do need to fill out before the walk because of the uneven ground throughout the trail, but that waiver does play a part in the Halloween Trail as well. So, don't be surprised if you hear any of the spooky creatures throughout the trail call you by your name.

While you are there, you can enjoy some chili, hot dogs, soft drinks, and hot chocolate. The event kicked off last weekend, and it will run again on October 27th and 28th from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. They also hold a no-scare walk at 7 p.m. each night as well. Admission is $10 per person ages 3 and older.

Folks who have been through the Halloween Trail have all had a great time, some enjoyed it so much that they came back to help later. The goal is to do it again next year too. However, they need the support of the community to come out and be a part of the trail. So, if you don't have any plans this weekend, and want to try something out that will give you a good scare, stop by the Halloween Trail in Boonville!
