The I-65 Killer is Identified

The I-65 Killer was also known as the Days Inn Killer. He went unknown to authorities for years, until now.  Indiana State Police announced that with new scientific techniques they were able to identify the I-65 Killer with 99.9999% accuracy.  They used investigative genealogy to lead them to identify Harry Edward Greenwell as the I-65 killer.

Who was the I-65 Killer?

Harry Edward Greenwell was born in 1944 and had a long criminal history. He was in and out of prison and escaped from jail on two separate occasions. He was also known to frequently travel the midwest. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2013 of cancer, so he was never brought to justice for the atrocious murders he committed.

Out of respect for the victims and their families, I won't be posting any photos of Harry here, and this is as far into Harry's story as I'm going to get.

Remembering the Victims

When it comes to serial killers like this, I personally feel it's most important to remember the victims. I can only hope that their families can feel some kind of peace, in knowing that the killer is no longer out there.

Courier-Journal.com did a great piece remembering the victims, where you can learn a little more about each of them.   I feel it is important to remember that these women were mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and friends who still have friends and family members who love and miss them dearly.

Thank you Law Enforcement

Thank you to law enforcement who worked to make sure that these cold cases didn't stay cold.  Those who worked to bring some sort of justice to the victims and their families.  You can see the full Indiana State Police press conference below.
