53,000+ Gallons of Ice Cream Recalled Over Plastic Contamination Risk
Over 53,000 gallons of ice cream and frozen yogurt have been recalled across Indiana and beyond due to potential plastic contamination.
How Much Ice Cream Was Recalled
Iowa-based Wells Enterprises, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of 17,866 tubs containing 53,598 gallons of ice cream and frozen yogurt distributed from its 103 facilities across the nation. The company owns several well-known ice cream brands, including Blue Bunny, Halo Top, Blue Ribbon Classics, The Cheesecake Factory, and The Original Bomb Pop.
Why the Ice Cream Is Being Recalled
The recall was originally issued on April 25, 2025. However, according to a report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a press release was not issued for the recall. According to information obtained from the FDA, the ice cream was recalled because "foreign material (plastic) may be present in ice cream product."

In total, 22 varieties of ice cream are being recalled.

The affected products were distributed in 3-gallon tubs nationwide, according to the FDA.
