While many people on social media are excited  that all of the Harry Potter movies are coming to Netflix in January, there's just one small problem.  You see, all eight films are coming to Netflix...just not Netflix in the United States.

The wizarding world of Harry Potter is coming to Netflix for those in Australia and New Zealand. While some articles that folks have been sharing on social media clearly explain that the movies only coming to select countries on January 15, 2019, there are some articles that fail to mention that. Thus, many people in the United States are left confused. The post below might be how you found out about Harry Potter movies coming to Netflix.

I hate to be the one who breaks the news to Harry Potter fans in the United States, but while that is an official Netflix account, it is the account for Australia and New Zealand. There is no mention of Harry Potter coming to Netflix on the United States account.  It also wasn’t included in the official list of new releases for January 2019 either for those in the US.

As you may recall, this isn't the only time that fans in the United States got their hopes up on the Harry Potter movies coming to Netflix. In October of 2018, social media was again, going crazy over the fact that Netflix was going to be bringing the Harry Potter films to their platform. However, it was only going to Netflix in France.

So why aren't these beloved movies coming to Netflix in the United States? It all comes down to licensing rights. You can find out more by clicking here. Perhaps one day we will be able to stream the Harry Potter movies here in the United States, just don't expect to see it happen in January!
