Gov. Beshear Update: 93 New Cases and More Unemployment Information
Governor Andy Beshear's daily briefing for the first day of April included a heavy emphasis on social distancing and staying healthy at home.
In the latest update, there were 93 new positive cases bringing the state total to 680 with 20 overall deaths. Governor Beshear acknowledged two new deaths in Wednesday's update which included the first death reported yesterday in Daviess County.
Kentucky Education Cabinet and Workforce Development Deputy Secretary Josh Benton gave an update on the department's continuing, diligent effort to process unemployment insurance claims and questions. The system has been naturally overwhelmed so the process to take claims both over the phone and online are being worked on every day to improve service.

Governor Beshear warned the public to watch out for COVID-19 testing scams, avoiding pop-up tests, and emphasizing there are still no official drive-through testing sites in Kentucky yet.
The Kentucky National Guard is being deployed to help with state food banks.
