More than 700 youth and adults have volunteered for Global Youth Service Day 2013. The event will be held this Saturday, rain or shine, starting with a Clean Evansville trash pick-up from 9am-11am...followed by lunch and a youth recognition program at the YMCA from 11:30am-3:30pm.

Twenty-four Clean Evansville teams will target areas around Garvin Park/Bosse Field, Jacobsville, Downtown, Glenwood Neighborhood and McGary Middle School. Clean Evansville volunteers are advised to dress for the weather. The YMCA will open its doors at 10 a.m. for those who do not want to participate in the trash pick-up. Indoor service-related projects will be available, plus music and games.

Lunch, which will include pasta, pizza, salad, fruit kabobs, popcorn and ice cream, and a program in celebration of youth service, will be held from 11:30 am. to 1:30 p.m. Then at 1:30 p.m., an attempt will be made to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest youth Zumba class. The afternoon will wrap-up with more games and activities until 3:30 p.m.
