With growing COVID-19 concerns, the cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have gone from tourist hotspots to ghost towns.

You've never seen these towns look so empty as they are in the images from Bill Burris below. Popular businesses are closed, the streets are empty, and it's somewhat haunting to see. I suppose the only other time that I can think of where these towns looked this empty was during the wildfires of 2016.

Many people from the Tri-State travel to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for vacation. I'm sure some from this area had vacations already planned, just to have them canceled due to the coronavirus. Judging by these photos, you aren't the only ones.

 

Here's to hoping that things get back to normal soon. I'd hate to see how Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge is going to look business wise once this is all said and done. There's no telling if some of our favorite places to visit there will even be in business after the impact of COVID-19.
