Game of Thrones Premiere Date Gets Pushed Back to June
Winter is coming...in June, apparently.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones won't premiere in April as it usually does due to filming in Iceland.
A majority of the scenes in Game of Thrones are filmed during the summer/fall and then the episodes are edited and special effects are added in the fall/winter, with us getting the finished product around April.
Not this year.
Since we've gotten to the point in the series where "Winter is Coming" has turned into "Winter Has Come" that means that a lot of scenes are being filmed during the winter in Iceland. Because if you want 'winter' climates go to a place called "Ice-Land".
This means that the scenes that they filmed in the summer are getting edited right now...but since they are still filming the 'winter' scenes, the editing process won't be complete on all of the episodes until later.
BUT the good news is, at least we won't have to wait until 2018 for new episodes (*cough* Westworld *cough*). Production has only been pushed back a few months and the official season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones will be....(drum roll please...)
