Former Boy Scout Leader Pleads Guilty to Possessing Kiddie Porn!

Right off the bat, let me say that I think that the Boy Scouts are a great organization. I was a Boy Scout, and I think being one helps you develop certain life skills and also teamwork among other positive attributes. Unfortunately, there seems to be one bad apple in every bunch and Ryan C.Bieler was that.

While working as a exec for the local Buffalo Trace Council chapter of the Boy Scouts, Bieler's name and address surfaced on a list of customers to an overseas company that distributes child pornography in the form of DVD's and links to internet filth.

Shortly thereafter, Feds, Postal Inspectors and cops raided Bieler's home in Jasper an found hundreds of DVD's and images on his computer of porn featuring children as young as 12. Feds say some of the videos were sadistic in nature. In Bieler's home they also found documentation that he was most interested in young boys and had interacted with some in the past, putting his fantasies in motion.

To their credit, the Buffalo Trace Council immediately fired Bieler, and now he faces federal charges that could put him in prison for a long time, which in my opinion is what he deserves. Since he pled guilty, it's now up to a judge to decide his punishment on July 3rd.

It sickens me that there is such an ugly underbelly of society that prey on children. It seems there is something new about the victimizing of the young every day.

Unless we develop mind reading skills, one can never know what someone is thinking. Unfortunately we have to react as opposed to being proactive, because as an old saying goes "No one knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men".
