Before the Mortal Kombat crew at NetherRealm Studios got its crack at making DC Comics' superheroes fight, Double Helix had its own brawler featuring Superman and Batman.

A fighting game comprised of DC Comics' superheroes was supposed to come out before Injustice: Gods Among Us, but never did, Kotaku reports. Fortunately, some footage of this cancelled project was leaked online, to remind us that we should be grateful for what we got with NetherRealm. There was a supposed to be a Justice League movie in the works year ago and this game likely going to be a tie-in. Luckily, Warner Bros. decided to go with Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe and Injustice instead.

Double Helix went on to focus on the Killer Instinct reboot and was eventually acquired by Amazon, handing KI's reins to Iron Galaxy Studios, so everything ended well for everybody. However, now you can check out the footage above to see what you were missing.
