Evansville Thunderbolts Name New Head Coach & General Manager
It was just announced that the Evansville Thunderbolts have a new Head Coach and new General Manager for the 2018-2019 season, their third season as members of the SPHL (Southern Profession Hockey League.)
Ian Moran, a native of Ohio and former player of the NHL, will be taking over as Head Coach, becoming the second in Thunderbolts history. Moran had a 12 season career, most of which was spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins, before founding a hockey training school in Massachusetts. According to a press release, coaching professional hockey is something Moran has wanted to do for a long time. He was quoted as saying:
This is a great opportunity for me and I felt the time was right to start my professional hockey coaching career. It's gonna be a blast, I'm all about community involvement, helping players move up to the next level, and building a winning culture.
Adam Stio has been named the new General Manager. He has held a number of roles as head coach and GM. Most recently, filling both roles for the Las Vegas Calvary. According to the press release, Stio was quoted as saying:
I've dreamed of having this kind of role in a professional hockey organization for a long time, so I am extremely excited. I am looking forward to working with Ian and the rest of the staff and helping out in all areas of the organization and help build on the success the team had last season.
