I've been doing this radio thing for a long time, and I've worked more non-profits than I can remember. Part of my job that I enjoy the most is being able to get the word out about the needs of these great organizations.

The most common donation request is for money, of course, but you'll also see groups asking for more specific things like food, clothing, toys, or maybe even blood. I can say, without a doubt, that I've never seen a donation request like the one made recently by the Evansville Rescue Mission.

The ERM continues to provides hundreds of meals a day, to folks staying at the shelter and to non-residents, and turning out all of those to-go meals has created a pretty unique need. The ERM took to Facebook to let us know that they need more carry out boxes. Seems like a great opportunity to help out an organization that does so much to help so many people in our community.

I don't know about you, but I've never purchased a styrofoam container by itself - I'm not even sure where you could get them. Actually, I do know now, because I looked it up. So, if you'd like to donate some of these containers, you should be able to find them at a number of places here in Evansville and online, including...

  • Walmart
  • Sam's Club
  • Staples
  • Lowe's (yep, really)
  • Amazon (of course)
