A Tragic Story Inspires Local Funeral Home To Help

Recently a story garnered national attention after a man's car was stolen with his father's cremated remains inside.  According to TheNewsTribune.com, a man in Washington had his car stolen last month, the car can be replaced, but what can't be are the two boxed that contained the cremated remains of the car owner's father.  Tim Farrell's father passed away in February, and Tim had his father's remains in the car because he was waiting for the right place to stop and spread his dad's ashes.  Unfortunately, Tim didn't get to do that as his car with his father's remains was stolen.

This story is anyone who has lost a loved one's worst nightmare.  It's like losing the person you love all over again.  One Evansville funeral home saw this story and wanted to do something locally to help those who are unsure of what to do with loved one's cremated remains.

Free Burial in Cremation Garden

Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center, and Cemetery saw the story about Tim losing his father's ashes, and they realized just how common this is.  They say it isn't uncommon for people to not know what to do with their loved one's cremated remains.  Sometimes they sit in a box in a closet, or in your car.  So they are offering their cremation garden where you can have your loved one's ashes buried, for free no matter how long they've been gone.

I looked at their website and SunsetEvansville.com had this to say about their cremation garden:
