Evansville Drug Bust Uncovers Fentanyl And Multiple Guns
An Evansville man is facing a long list of serious charges after a months-long investigation into suspected drug activity.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force began receiving information in February that Kejuane Deonte Broomfield was allegedly dealing fentanyl from his residence.
Attempted Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest
On March 30, 2026, detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Woodbridge Drive and Branchwood Drive. Authorities say Broomfield did not stop and instead attempted to flee, striking several detectives’ vehicles in the process.

Investigators were able to pin the vehicle and prevent further movement. After reportedly refusing multiple commands to exit, detectives broke the driver’s side window and deployed pepperball rounds before Broomfield ultimately surrendered.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
Search Uncovers Drugs And Firearms
During a search of the apartment on Birchwood Court, detectives say they located multiple firearms and suspected narcotics.
According to VCSO, investigators found:
- Four pistols, including two reported stolen
- Ammunition
- Approximately 24 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Approximately 14 grams of suspected cocaine
- Approximately 170 grams of suspected marijuana
- Three digital scales
Authorities say Broomfield has prior felony convictions that classify him as a serious violent felon, which would make it illegal for him to possess firearms.
Sheriff Responds To Arrest
Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson praised the work of investigators following the arrest.
He said Broomfield “had every opportunity to comply and chose not to,” adding that detectives showed restraint and professionalism throughout the incident.
Charges Filed
Broomfield, 39, of Evansville, is facing multiple charges, including dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, resisting law enforcement, and theft of a firearm.
He is currently being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Multi-Agency Investigation
The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force includes detectives from both the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Evansville Police Department. Federal agencies, including the ATF and DEA, also assisted in the investigation.
Presumption Of Innocence
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
