The annual SWAT Challenge hosted by the Evansville Police Foundation is back in 2022 and there are more obstacles than ever before.

The annual 5K course begins at Evansville's Four Freedoms Monument at Dress Plaza, along Riverside Drive, and will continue a short distance past the Korean War Memorial, making its way downtown Evansville.

Not Your Average 5K and Not for the Faint of Heart

What sets the SWAT Challenge 5K apart from other area 5Ks is that there are a number of obstacles that must be navigated, climbed, or otherwise endured in order to cross the finish line. There are 21 obstacles all totaled for 2022. [See some of the obstacles here]

Funding Equipment & Training for EPD SWAT Team

The event is a huge fundraiser that allows the Evansville Police Department with funding for equipment and training for members of the EPD SWAT Team. The Evansville Police Foundation works to fundraise to offset the expenses remaining when the city's allocated law enforcement dollars don't quite stretch far enough beyond the normal payroll, administrative, and operations costs.

The 2022 SWAT Challenge will take place on Saturday, May 7th beginning at 8:00 AM. New 5K waves will begin every 15 minutes until the final wave of the 5K happens at 12 noon.

How Much is Registration

Registration for the 2022 EPD Swat Challenge is just $40 per person but there are discounts if you register multiple people at a time.
