The rock world has its fair share of Hoosiers representing in it! Some may surprise you!

Last night when watching Motley Crue's movie, The Dirt it hit me that Mick Mars is from Indiana! Not too far from the tri-state actually, he was born in Terre Haute, which is pretty freaking cool! So I decided to check out other rockers that hail from the Hoosier state, and some of these names just might surprise you. And no Mellencamp isn't on the list.  No offense to John, but we get it, he's a Hoosier and was born in a small town.

So here's 5 rockers from Indiana!

As I mentioned above Mick Mars was actually the inspiration for this list. The Motley Crue lead guitarist can shred with the best of them, and we're no doubt happy to claim his as on of our own!

2) David Lee Roth

David Lee Roth was born in Bloomington, just a short drive up i-69.  Whether he's rockin' out fronting Van Halen or doing his own solo thang David Lee Roth has absolutely made his mark on rock n roll, and we're happy to have him as a fellow Hoosier!

3) Tim Mcilrath

Born in Indianapolis, Tim Mcilrath has made his mark on the punk rock music scene with his band Rise Against, you may recognize him as the lead singer, rhythym guitarist, and co-founder of the band!

4) Shannon Hoon

Born in Lafayette Indiana, you may recognize this Hoosier as the original front man for Blind Melon. Unfortunately Shannon passed away in 1995 after being with the band for 5 years.  His memory lives on in his unique songwriting style, and vocals.

5) Axl Rose

Although Axl has had a bit of tumultuous past with Indiana, we'll still claim him as a fellow Hoosier! He was born in Lafayette, and after hitchhiking to California ended up fronting massive rock powerhouse, Guns N Roses!
