It looks like Corey Taylor is back in the Slipknot saddle.

The singer, who recently played a solo, guest-filled show in L.A., posted a recording update to Instagram that only serves to further whet the appetites of Maggots patiently awaiting the band's follow-up to 2014's .5: The Gray Chapter. In it, a cross-eyed Taylor is shown nudging his followers with a shot that amounts to something like, "Hey, look what I'm doing!"

And, believe us, we've been patient. While Taylor toured the world with Stone Sour, we were also listening to Clown talk about the "good vs. evil" concept that's informing the next Slipknot record. And, now, here we are ... almost.

Back to work...

"Back to work," Taylor states in a selfie where he's also donning headphones and a Mötley Crüe T-shirt, and — in case there's any doubt as to the Crüe on his crew — he also tagged the Nikki Sixx-founded group.

This lines up with what we already know about the imminent sixth studio album from the iconic Iowa metalheads. The band's new album should be out this year, succeeding last fall's "All Out Life," the first new 'knot tune in four years.

It's a far cry from the masked rockers' humble beginnings back in Des Moines, Iowa. Speaking of which, did you know the story of how Slipknot got their first big break in the first place? It's perhaps just as intriguing as the five brutal albums that followed.
