If you're a fan of Chris Cornell, you're in for a treat. On what would have been Cornell's 56th birthday, his family released his cover of the Guns N' Roses hit "Patience."

The song was released today on Chris Cornell's website and social media accounts.

A statement  reads,

"His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories and art. It is true a man is not dead while his name is still spoken…and, through his art, an artist's soul still burns just as bright as ever upon all those that look up to him and his memory. Releasing music that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us — his heart and his soul. His love and his legacy."

Chris Cornell died May 18, 2017 after a body guard found him unconscious in a Detroit hotel room. The night before Soundgarden had performed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. As Loudwire reports, Cornell's passing was ruled a death by suicide by authorities.
