I am a huge fan of all things creepy, and I love learning about haunted history. Not too far from the Tri-State you can visit one of the most haunted places in the U.S. Waverly Hills.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium is located just outside of Louisville. Waverly Hills is known for being haunted, and being a "hot bed" for paranormal activity. Part of the reason for this reputation has to do with Waverly's history. The numbers vary, but it's said that thousands died at Waverly Hills Sanatorium as it was originally a tuberculosis hospital.  After the tuberculosis epidemic was over, it was turned into a geriatric medical facility.  In 1981 Waverly Hills closed it's doors.  Now the Waverly Hills Historical Society works hard to help preserve the historic landmark, and by utilizing it's creepy history they're able to raise funds for their nonprofit which helps with the preservation of the building. You can even take a tour of Waverly to help support the Waverly Hills Historical society out. You can click here to see all the tour options.

Now I haven't had the chance to go to Waverly myself yet, so I'm  extra thankful for people like Debbie Joplin.  Debbie and I are both members of a Facebook group called Haunted History of Kentucky and she recently shared a bunch of photos from her visit to Waverly. She allowed me to share the photos with you!  After looking through her photos, I definitely need to book a tour and see this place in person! Thank you Debbie for sharing!
