The Castle Knights Lacrosse boys team take on the Reitz Panthers in this year’s Broken Stick Classic on Thursday, April 23rd at 5:00 PM CDT at Castle’s John Lidy Field in Newburgh, Indiana. The original game of lacrosse was played by the Native Americans. They called it Baggataway or “little brother of war.” Warriors of the tribe played to prepare for battle. In this spirit, the trophy for the annual senior night match-up of Castle versus Reitz is a broken, traditional, Native American lacrosse stick. It symbolizes the toughness of the game and the bravery needed for lacrosse competition. The Castle Knights are currently 9-1 and ranked 9th in the state. This year’s event is sure to be fast paced and crowd pleasing. Coming discover lacrosse, “The fastest sport on two feet.”
