It’s about time, Bad Religion! The punk legends have finally announced their 17th studio album, Age of Unreason. The self-described “album’s worth of ‘Fuck Trump’ songs” will be released May 3 and a new single “Chaos From Within” can be heard right now.

Over the last eight months, Bad Religion have steadily been releasing new music. The heavily criticized “The Kids Are Alt-Right” came out in June 2018, but will not be featured on the band’s new album. However, “Chaos From Within” and “My Sanity” --  the record’s opening tracks --  both made the cut, as did "The Profane Rights of Man."

The album of modern day protest anthems will heavily reference today’s social and political climate. Racist rallies, Trump’s election, the erosion of the middle class, Colin Kaepernick’s protest, alternative facts and conspiracy theories will all be addressed, while homages to literary and philosophical works are honored.

“The band has always stood for enlightenment values,” co-songwriter and guitarist Brett Gurewitz explains. “Today, these values of truth, freedom, equality, tolerance, and science are in real danger. This record is our response.”

“When I saw all these headlines about how terrible our world had become, I started doing a lot of reading. I read about the French revolution, the American Revolution, the Civil War, and I started to recognize that this is a pattern of history and something we should never venture into,” says Greg Graffin. “There are ample warnings against it. Every school child should know this but it’s hard to get people to read about these things. Maybe this album can help. Because right now, with social media, we are just playing a version of kill the guy with the ball.”
