We've teamed up with our rescue friends in Posey County, Indiana. Each week we share an adoptable dog from PC Pound Puppies and an adoptable feline friend from Posey Humane Society as well as details on how you can make them a forever part of your home. Let me introduce you to your next best friend.

Meet Dakota

Dakota has faced adversity in his 5 short years. He was adopted from PC Pound Puppies at a young age but landed back at the shelter before his first birthday after his owner passed away. Dakota has some trust issues but he has warmed up to the volunteer that works with him at the rescue. They say Dakota was born deaf as well so he will need someone who can work with a deaf dong. According to PC Pound Puppies,

He is still wary of some strangers, mostly men, and does not care for most other dogs, at least not at the shelter. We feel like he would do well with a single woman. We think he needs a well controlled environment; he startles easily and bonds well with women. He really needs someone knowledgeable about deaf dogs. We are most interested in placing him with a deaf dog rescue and would be willing to transport. He has come a long way, but there are not many opportunities for him at the shelter, and we have so many others waiting for their chance and so few people to handle all the responsibilities he does not get the attention he needs.

The PC Pound Puppies adoption fee for Dakota is $150 which goes to cover a portion of the vetting costs. If you're interested in adding this pup to your family, you can fill out an adoption application here. The adoption process does require a completed application as well as an interview. The rescue will not schedule a meet and greet without having first received a completed application.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the weekly PC Pound Puppies adoption events on Sundays at the Pet Food Center on First Avenue in Evansville have been canceled for the foreseeable future. You can get in touch with PC Pound Puppies by email at pcpoundpuppies1@gmail.com or by phone at 812-483-4341. They do respond to inquiries and adoption applications at the earliest opportunity, but please remember to be be patient as they are volunteers who all work full-time jobs. They always do their best to return messages and schedule adoption interviews within a couple of days of receiving your application. Again, you can submit an application here.

Meet Lightning & Chub

This three year old bonded pair of brothers are looking for a new place to call home. Because they are a bonded pair, Posey Humane is requesting that they be adopted together and they are offering an adoption deal for these two.

These handsome guys came to PHS last week (no fault of their own) and are looking for a new home.  Since they are brothers and are bonded at 3 years of age, they need a home together. They are both neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped and FIV-Negative. Adoption fee for these fellas together is only $50.00.

The $50 adoption fee is a small investment to bring so much (DOUBLE!) love into your life.

Posey Humane Society has plenty of other kitties as well as lots of dogs, both young and old. Their adoption fees are $30 for cats, $50 for kittens up to 6 months old, $100 for dogs and $150 for puppies under 6 months old. The adoption fees include their microchip, spay or neuter, heartworm test and getting the animal up to date on vaccines. If you're interested in meeting this week's adoptable cat or any of the other wonderful and deserving animals in the care of Posey Humane Society, you can visit them on Facebook or by visiting their official website, PoseyHumane.org. They are also in need of foster homes where the animals can wait for their forever families without having to stay inside the shelter.
