St. Patrick's Day is here, and this year is definitely different. Here's 5 ways to celebrate at home!

Hemera Technologies

Typically on St. Patrick's day you can find me with my friends at a local bar drinking green beer and playing Dropkick Murphy's on the jukebox.  Unfortunately this year St. Patrick's Day isn't feeling quite so lucky.  We're all scared, unsure of what to do with the current outbreak, and all the bars are closed to in-person dining.

So let's make the best of a bad situation! The good news is, if you celebrate at home you don't have to worry about getting home, so you'll save the money of taking a cab or Uber home!

Irish Slammer (I used to love these at RiRas)

  • Pour a bottle of Guiness (or your favorite dark stout) into a glass
  • Fill a shot glass half full with Bailey's Irish Cream & the other half Irish Whiskey
  • Drop the shot glass into the stout and chug

Sour Apple High Ball (this one is green)!

  • 1 Part Pucker® Sour Apple Schnapps
  • 1 Part Vodka
  • 1 Part Sprite
  • Dekuyper

Irish Lemonade

  • 1 part Jameson Irish whiskey
  • 2 parts lemonade
  • 2 parts ginger beer
  • Garnish with fresh lemon and mint
  • This recipe is  from Jameson's website.

Bailey's Irish Coffee

  • 2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
  • 6 oz hot coffee
  • 1 oz Irish whiskey
  • top with whipped cream
  • From Bailey's website.

Bailey's St. Patrick's Day Shake

  • 1 3/4 oz of Bailey's Irish Cream
  • 1/2 C milk
  • 3 scoops mint choc chip ice cream
  • chocolate syrup
  • whipped cream
  • blend milk, Bailey's, and ice cream together. Drizzle chocolate inside glasses (or glass if it's just for you no judgement) and top with whipped cream
  • From Bailey's website.

Guiness Black Velvet

And if you're not looking to get too crazy, you can always take a drop of green food coloring and put it into your beer or wine for that matter, it's St. Patrick's Day after all!  Enjoy today, and just remember this is temporary. Things are weird right now, but we can still celebrate responsibly. Take care of each other. Maybe order some corned beef from a local restaurant for delivery or carry out?  We can still celebrate, just differently this year.
