For the first time in several years, the annual Border Bowl, pitting four high school football teams from Evansville against four teams from Owensboro, will return to Evansville after spending the past few years on the other side of the river.

This year's participants are Reitz, Mater Dei, Central, Memorial, Owensboro High School, Apollo, Daviess County High School, and Owensboro Catholic, with the four games split between two nights, Friday, August 24th and Saturday, August 25th at the following times and locations:

Friday, August 24th at Reitz Bowl

  • 5:00 p.m. - Reitz versus Owensboro
  • 7:30 p.m. - Mater Dei versus Apollo

Saturday, August 25th at Enlow Field

  • 4:00 p.m. - Central versus Daviess County
  • 6:30 p.m. - Memorial versus Owensboro Catholic

Seven of the eight coaches, and Mater Dei Athletic Director, Joe Herrmann (Coach Mike Goebel was out of town) attended a press conference at the Evansville Teacher's Federal Credit Union's main office on Theater Drive in Evansville to discuss this year's event, and give a quick update on where their teams are at this point in the off-season.

Tickets will only be available at the eight schools athletic offices beginning in August for only $7.00 per person with each ticket getting you admission to both games on whichever night you choose to attend.
