Today’s Crush, the lovely Zoe Kazan, joins the quirky, sexy Manic Pixie Dream Girl sorority with her leading role in the new indie film ‘Ruby Sparks.’

Kazan also wrote ‘Ruby Sparks,’ in which she stars as a girl seemingly willed into existence by a struggling writer. While the movie is billed of something as a fantasy, there is a little truth behind the magic: If we had the ability to create the girl of our dreams, she’d probably be smart, talented and gorgeous just like Kazan.

Talent runs in Kazan’s family. The Los Angeles native is the daughter of Hollywood screenwriters Nicholas Kazan and Robin Swicord. ‘Ruby Sparks’ is Kazan’s first script to be turned into a major film, but she’s been acting for almost ten years.

Kazan’s film debut was in the 2003 drama ‘Swordswallowers and Thin Men.’ She also appeared in indie flicks ‘The Savages,’ ‘Me and Orson Welles,’ ‘Revolutionary Road,’ and ‘The Exploding Girl.’

The 28-year-old actress has also acted on the stage off-Broadway, and she made her Broadway debut in 2008.

Comedy fans may also remember Kazan as Nina, Jason Schwartzman’s love interest on HBO’s ‘Bored to Death.’
