You know how 2016 has not been the best year ever? I think the vibes may have rubbed off on The Walking Dead. Seriously, what is going on?

So, in the season seven premiere we have this big cliffhanger that gets brutally and violently resolved, oh yeah, turn back now if you don't want spoilers, and since then, things have been slow. The Walking Dead is in fact dead. However, last night the brutality got ramped up again in the penultimate episode before next week's mid season finale.

Carl thought he was going to kill Negan and well, instead he got a tour of the Saviors' lair and a lesson in something that has nothing to do with the baseball bat. Who needs something ironed?

Oh yeah and Negan decided Carl's missing eye socket looked cool. Honestly, it does kind of look awesome. Carl did not face a similar fate, no, he was personally escorted back to Alexandria by Negan and his crew wherein Negan decided he was thirsty and feeling all fatherly. He is staying put until Rick returns from scavenging. Okay, this is what the past couple of episodes has been missing, some honest to goodness tension.

It's no secret the series is facing its lowest ratings in four years, remember Hershel's farm? Where's Enid? Where's the tiger?!? As much as I like to see the universe expand, per the comics, there's not enough time to get every single story in. You would think 22 hours/episodes would suffice, not even close.

So, any guesses for the mid season finale? Someone is almost guaranteed to die, but who? The 90-minute episode airs Sunday night at 8pm CST on AMC.
