If you have found yourself in the unique position to finally throw caution to the wind and try this food called sushi, that you have been hearing so much about, but you have no idea which Japanese restaurant to try for the best possible experience – this may be the most important article you read all day.

In no particular order, here are what we consider three of the best Japanese/Sushi restaurants in Evansville.

  • 1

Nagasaki Inn Japanese Steak and Sushi Bar

The Nagasaki Inn Japanese Steak and Sushi Bar is one of the most highly revered, award-winning Japanese restaurants in the Evansville area; complete with a full service bar, a number of hibachi grills, a sushi bar, a carry out menu and even a children’s menu.

We recommend the Tendon for lunch, which is deep-fried egg battered shrimp served with vegetables on rice. You might want to consider taking a half-day off from work when you go.

Zuki Japanese Hibachi Grill and Sushi Lounge

Over the past few years, the Zuki Japanese Hibachi Grill and Sushi Lounge has become one of the trendiest upscale Japanese family restaurants in Evansville. In fact, the restaurant is growing so rapidly, it was recently forced to undergo an extensive expansion project to accommodate seating for an additional 200 people.

We recommend the Dragon Roll and the Spicy Tuna Crunch, along with swordfish on the Hibachi grill. Bring a friend – you’ll need the help!

    Kanpai Sushi and Asian Bistro

Kanpai Sushi and Asian Bistro is likely the most talked about Japanese-style restaurant in Evansville, having won numerous awards for raising the bar in the standards of Asian cuisine in Southern Indiana.

We recommend the Eel Crunch and the Avocado Special. However, don’t be afraid to try Kanpai’s version of the Chinese classic, General Tso’s Chicken. To see the full menu, click here.
