The Spirit Festival is a day full of family fun activities to raise money for the Spirit Medical Fund - assisting in care of medical needs of stray, abandoned, and homeless animals in the care of Evansville-Vanderburgh Animal Care & Control.

The Spirit Festival is happening this Saturday, July 13th from 10am-3pm on the grounds of the Evansville-Vanderburgh Animal Care & Control. The funds raised from this family friendly event will go to the Spirit Medical Fund. According to the Facebook Event Page for the Spirit Festival:

The SPIRIT MEDICAL FUND was established after a brave little dachshund mix, later named Spirit, survived a horrific ordeal of animal cruelty. Spirit was found at the Hill Cemetery around Halloween 2000. She had been doused with gasoline, set on fire, and left to die. When found, she was close to death. Although she was in very poor health, she still had the will to live. In order for this to be possible, she needed costly medical treatments. The community reached out and provided us with the needed money. This was the beginning of the SPIRIT MEDICAL FUND.
