Take a minute and think "was it only going to take half a season to get everyone in gear?". Apparently, yes. **SPOILERS AHEAD** Is The Walking Dead finally getting too predictable? Yes and no.

In the mid-season finale, aptly titled "Hearts Still Beating", our friends finally decided to buck up and plan to attack Negan and The Saviors. The plan has not been fleshed out of course, but all the pieces were put into motion. We got to visit The Kingdom for only the second time this season and all Carol wanted was to be left alone, sorry girl. Morgan and one of Ezekiel's right-hand guys asked for Carol's help in convincing the Tiger father they should preemptively attack The Saviors. Although Carol was all "nope!" she will be pulled back into the madness she's tried to escape countless times.

Rick and Aaron recover a giant cache of supplies while traversing over a lake o' walkers, swimmers? And Negan cooked spaghetti for Carl, Olivia, and Judith. "Father Knows Best" it isn't. All of sudden Spencer decides he is going to try to get on Negan's good side. I never trusted Spencer; yes he was bitter that Rick took over Alexandria and he lost his family, but he was never in the right frame of mind to lead or take over himself. He lost his guts, literally, in turn. Olivia was a victim of circumstance as Rosita tried to shoot Negan with the one bullet she made that got Eugene to confess he made it and now he's been taken by The Saviors. I hope he likes dog food sandwiches.

Meanwhile, Maggie was asserting her rise to power at The Hilltop and she loves apples! Oh yeah, and Daryl escaped the Sanctuary with Jesus as if his cell walls were made of peanut brittle. Thus, the gang is reunited.

I honestly thought it would take a season and a half to actively go after Negan. I was wrong. The Walking Dead returns February 12th on AMC.
