Aaron Sorkin The Newsroom Season 2 July 14
HBO

Things have been pretty quiet on the front of HBO’s Aaron Sorkin series ‘The Newsroom‘ despite its controversial season 2 premiering on the network this summer. Set one year behind the current news cycle, the new run will likely continue to provide a source of debate among critics and viewers , but now HBO has set an official premiere date of Sunday, July 14. Find out what HBO had to say about the plot of ‘The Newsroom’ season 2 inside!

While the sixth season of ‘True Blood‘ will hit viewers on Sunday, June 16, fans of HBO’s Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama ‘The Newsroom’ will have to wait a bit longer before checking in with Will McAvay and the rest of the ACN crew. Via press release today, HBO has officially set a July 14 premiere for the news series’ second cycle, along with a brief description of the plot to unfold over the next 10 episodes:

In the new season, the staff of “News Night” chases a mysterious tip, which leads to a story that ultimately spins out of control.

Descriptive, no? Elsewhere, the second season of HBO’s ‘The Newsroom’ features appearances by ‘Justified‘ star Patton Oswalt as the fictional networks new vice president of human resources, and Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer as a reporter embedded within the Mitt Romney campaign. We already knew that much of the second season would focus on the 2012 elections, but Sorkin added to the list of news stories events such as Trayvon Martin, the Affordable Care Act, drones, Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Muammar Gaddafi.

We’ll keep you posted on the long haul to ‘The Newsroom’ season 2, but what say you? Will you tune in for the July 14 premiere?
