The Digital World: It’s Full Of Scams and Con Artists

Who hasn't been ripped off or scammed on the world wide web?  At the very least you got a suspicious e-mail like this one

And the attachment with this e-mail.

Our spam filter is pretty good. It let the message come through, but stripped the virus from the attachment.   These would be from people who try to collect money from you over some account that doesn’t exist. Or you’ve seen the ones.  Where a female heir to millions asks you for a $500 or so payment to get the inheritance release and you’ll be paid a million dollars to do so.  You know that’s BS, right?  Our Better Business Bureau in Evansville always have helpful advice for you.  Find them here.

Facebook has it's own similar scams. Fake profiles. That is you corresponding with that pretty girl who doesn't really exist.  The more you chat, the more she/they know about you, sooner or later you given them enough personal information that they can steal your identity or have you send them money,  Because they're beautiful as far as the two pictures they have posted along with no history that goes further past a month or two ago, but their struggling and need some money from you.  Here's an example of a fake-ass Facebook profile.

What kind of F**king name is Sharon Kevin?  I have 5000 Facebook friends and I get about 7-10 new friend requests per day.  About 3 of those are usually bogus.  Check out this site.  It's called Facecrooks and it's full of info about the latest and most often used on Facebook.

I myself have been 'catfished' once.  It didn't rob my pocket but it was someone who apparently does exists, and did her best to make me fall in love with her. I effed up my emotions that someone here in town would do that.  Everytime I'd set up a date, she would conveniently find an excuse not to go.  Even as to go as far as saying she was suddenly admitted to the hospital.  I won't say this person's name as I have before.  Just let it fade...
