Back circa 1965, there were only three TV networks, and most TV sets we still black and white.  Back in that time, there were not electronic toys like gaming systems,  and other cool things the spoiled kids of today enjoy.  Nope, back when I was 5 it was about creating toys that helped fuel a child's imagination.   One such toy...the toy I remember the most about growing up was my X-15.

Modeled after the American F-15 Fighter jet, this toy was metal with solid rubber wheels, 36" long and had a unique rear wheel steering system - You use the stick to steer back wheels!   I used to pedal up and down my street pretending to guard the neighborhood from villains, aliens or both.   After a few years, I got too big to ride my X-15, and it ended up rusting in our garage and finally being tossed out.  Don't know how much the X-15 cost then, but on E-Bay they go for as much as $250 in good condition.  Maybe I should buy one for my grandaughter so she can continue patrolling for any neighborhood nemesis.
