Every Chord Counts drew 317 players last year, and the goal is to double the numbers this year.  This year's main sponsors are Franklin Street Events Association, Moore Music, Lamasco Bar and Grill, Music First, and Evansville Music Academy.   They have worked together to provide FREE guitars, FREE lessons all summer at the Bazaar, and a day of music on Franklin Street.  Franklin Street Events Association president, Amy Word, feels that the event can increase connections between the community of musicians, saying, “Our goals for this year are lofty, with clinics, multiple performances, and three attempted songs to break the record for most guitarists, but with the collaboration of so many local businesses and great friends, I know we will meet them. EVERY. CHORD.COUNTS. It's all in the name. Every one of us, just like a string on a guitar, all playing together, can make beautiful music in our community.”

Guitar players, as well as all stringed instrument musicians of every skill level, will meet at the West Library Lawn at 1 p.m., directly following the Franklin Street Bazaar.  From 1:00 – 1:45 will be different clinics held on the lawn.  At 1:45, the students that have attended 8 of the 13 free lessons that were offered all summer at the Bazaar will be presented with their FREE guitars on stage.  2:30 will be the actual attempt of the world record, by performing the three songs.  The Honey Vines and Larry Grisham and the Beat Daddy’s will be performing during the day, with the entire event culminating with a large concert at 7 p.m. on the library lawn with local band, just returning from a nationwide tour, OsiElla.
