It looks like Valve beat Telltale to announcing the release date for the second season of the critically acclaimed The Walking Dead video game. Good news for us though, as the wait won't be much longer.

The Steam Store lists the first installment of Walking Dead, Season 2 for arrival on Dec. 17, and has opened up pre-orders on the season pass if you are so inclined. Telltale's description on Steam reads as follows:

The Walking Dead: Season Two continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in a world gone mad.

Many months have passed since the events seen in Season One of The Walking Dead, and Clementine is searching for safety. But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad – and sometimes worse – than the dead? As Clementine, you will be tested by situations and dilemmas that will test your morals and your instinct for survival. Your decisions and actions will change the story around you, in this sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year.

As expected, the decisions you made in both Season 1 and 400 Days will impact how your personal version of Season 2 plays out. Of course, the option to pick up and play without importing that data will likely be there, too, for those of you who maybe didn't care for your original decisions so much. Though you do still have some time to head back and replay the first season again for a refresher.

There's no date listed yet for the console versions, but it's likely episode one will arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that same week, if not the same day as the PC version. Telltale has remained quiet thus far, and may be waiting until Saturday's VGX to make the official announcement. Regardless, we can't wait to finally play.
