Civil War Correspondence: The Character Assassination Of Carol Danvers By The Writer Brian Bendis [Recapping ‘Civil War II’ #5]

Civil War II has completely overwhelmed the Marvel Universe, with all of your favorite titles tangentially tying into the event in whatever way they can in hopes of a sales bump. With a founding Avenger dead and battle lines nearly drawn, it’s time to dig back into the story for more Civil War Correspondence, and review where I stand on the conflict. I reserve the right to flip-flop at will, although that’s looking less and less likely.

This month we're looking solely at Civil War II #5 as the heroes finally clash and the final page hits uncomfortably close to reality. Spoilers follow.

Tom Holland Shows Off Spider-Man’s Dance Moves in New ‘Homecoming’ Set Video

Just last week, Joe and Anthony Russo shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Josh Brolin rehearsing for Avengers: Infinity War, giving us our first look (sort of) at Thanos’ return. But Jon Watts isn’t about to let the Russos get away with stealing the superhero spotlight — in response, the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming has offered up a new set video that shows off Tom Holland’s breakdancing skills, complete with mo-cap Spidey action.

The Artist’s Spider-Man: Humberto Ramos’ Exuberant Exaggeration

Humberto Ramos has been a consistent presence on the Spider-Man titles for the past 14 years or so, but he actually came to the character nearly a decade into his career.

Before tackling Spidey, Ramos worked on Milestone books, including Hardware, and numerous books for DC Comics, most notably a two-year run on Impulse with writer Mark Waid. Then he moved onto Wildstorm and helped found the Cliffhanger publishing imprint, where he produced 24 issues of his creator-owned comic Crimson with writer Brian Augustyn. It wasn't until 2002 that Ramos worked on a Spider-book.

‘Spider-Man 4’ Concept Art Reveals the Villains and Humor of Sam Raimi’s Abandoned Sequel

After delivering two great Spider-Man films back-to-back (and almost singlehandedly launching a new era of superhero franchises), Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 left fans and critics feeling a bit disappointed. With one too many villains, that famous Peter Parker dance sequence (which I actually like!) and reports of Sony’s meddling, Raimi’s third film in the series ultimately proved to be his last when he abandoned plans for Spider-Man 4 back in 2010 — leaving us wondering what his fourth film might have looked like. Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder (much) anymore.

Teenage Dream: How ‘Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane’ Was Ten Years Ahead Of Its Time

Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane is an overlooked and underrated classic that ran in multiple forms from 2004-2007, and broke the mold for what a superhero comic released by a major publisher could be.

Originally by writer Sean McKeever and artist Takeshi Miyazawa, the series followed the day-to-day high school drama of Mary Jane Watson and her friends as they dated, fell out, and made up, while Spider-Man and The Vulture occasionally crashed their homecoming game. One could call it low-stakes storytelling, but stakes are a matter of perspective. Great drama can be found anywhere.

Spider-Man Goes Samurai With Tamashii Nations’ Manga Realization Line

Over the past year or so, Tamashii Nations' Movie Realization series for Star Wars stormed onto shelves and became one of the most sought-after lines in the collecting community. While the standard Star Wars figures will always suffice, Tamashii's bold interpretations took the brand back to its own inspirations, and gave us some of the most unique Star Wars toys ever. Now the Japanese company is turning its eye to comics, and putting heroes like Spider-Man through the same feudal era lens.
