Back in the mid to late 80s, I would sit and listen to the radio for hours upon end. I was listening for certain songs that I had neither the money to buy the cassette of or any other way to obtain it. Yes kids, there was a time before "on demand" this and "instant" that. Somewhere in my parent's attic, you'll find mountains of audio cassette tapes of songs that were recorded off the radio with the DJ talking over the start of each song. As time went by, I began to become more fascinated with that voice than I did with whatever song he/she was introducing. "Who is that"? "I wonder what they look like?" "Sounds like they are having fun" and I ultimately came to the conclusion...

I want to do that.

The Retirement of Slick

August of 1996…a skinny, naive and long haired kid from two hours East walked into a somewhat ram shackled but charming house on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana. This was the home of the campus radio station, AM 820. “Hello…my name is Nick and I am enrolled in the Radio Practicum for the Fall semester”.

25th Anniversary: Slick with Playboy Playmate AJ Alexander

As a part of our year long celebration of being the most badass rock station in the Tri-state for 25 years, I thought I would acknowledge an important moment in our history. Me being on stage with a Playboy Playmate...it was kind of important to me at least. This small photo collection was of a night in 2008 (April/May I think) in which I was doing something at Fast Eddys (no clue to what it was) I was joined onstage by the soon to be Miss May 2008, the lovely AJ Alexander. The link is somewhat safe for work but don't go digging around too much.

Grand Opening Weekend at Ellis Park
