For the last 20 years, I've been in a profession that is not known for having the healthiest individuals. We essentially sit on our butts and play music. When I'm not in the studio, I'm sitting in front of my computer. I reckon I should pay attention to this.

Maybe you've heard this argument before...people who stand up on the job are more productive than those who sit. Well, it's not just talk...there is actually a study that backs up this claim. A study done by Texas A&M University looked at the productivity of employees at a call center. Employees that were able to stand and do their jobs were 45% more productive than those who stayed seated.

And it's more than just being more productive at work. Standing is actually better for your body. This study claims that sitting for prolonged periods of time can lead to fatigue, a lack of motivation, plus muscle, tendon, and bone issues. All of which has an effect on your productivity. Now, no one is saying you need to stay on your feet all day, but reducing your sitting time by even an hour or so seems to have its benefits.

There was a time, when I was a young DJ, when I would stand for most of my 5-hour on-air shift. Those days are gone, but I might have to start working towards getting back to that habit.

Thanks to Men's Health for this information...there is plenty more info here.
