Staind guitarist Mike Mushok kept himself busy during the band's break by joining bassist Jason Newsted's self-titled project. Now that he's back with Staind, he says there are no plans to rejoin Newsted at this time, explaining that the former Metallica bassist has decided to shut down his band for the time being.

When quizzed about the current status of the band by New Jersey radio station WDHA 105.5 FM, Mushok explained, "The [Newsted] thing really kind of … [Jason] kind of shut it down after we did that run, we did that record. So he's just kind of taking a little break now."

Mushok says that after an extensive tour around the world in a short period of time, things kind of halted. "It was really just kind of a whirlwind," says the guitarist. "And you know, things have changed since back in the day and I think [Jason] was just … he was happy to get that record out. I know he's still writing music and we still talk, but there's not really any plans as far as that goes today."

Newsted posted on his website in September that he was no longer on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or any other social networking site.
