If you are 18 and a smoker and live in Illinois, you could have to wait a couple of more years before being able to buy tobacco!

A proposed bill that was introduced into the Illinois Senate could raise the legal age for buying tobacco products from 18 to 21.

The lawmaker who proposed the bill says the increase will decrease the number of young people who start smoking because they would not have access to tobacco products.

A recent study shows that raising the legal age limit could reduce youth smoking nearly 25%.
