On Saturday, July 19, 2014 SMILE on Down Syndrome will be hosting their second annual Trucks & Heroes event from 9am-12pm at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. The first hour will be siren-and-lights-free for guests with sensory issues, including guests who are on the autism spectrum.

SMILE on Down Syndrome welcomes out young and old alike to come check out some of the Tri-State area’s biggest and most fun trucks and working vehicles. It will also be an opportunity for the young and young at heart to meet up close some of our area’s finest police, fire, medical, and military heroes.  It is also an opportunity for area businesses and organizations to also showcase their service vehicles including Feller Limo, the Washington and Evansville armories, the River City Thunderbolt MVCC (military vehicle preservation group), Nestle Ice Cream, WOW, McCutchanville Fire Department, and Evansville SWAT.

The event will be free to attend, but donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted to help stock the food pantry at Patchwork Central. This event is open to the public, and SMILE looks forward to seeing young and old alike enjoying the vehicles and meeting our local Tri-State heroes.

SMILE is still taking last minute vehicle sign ups if you or someone you know is interested in participating. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available as well. Interested businesses and organizations can contact SMILE on Down Syndrome Executive Director Nikki Davis at nikki@smileondownsyndrome.org.
