We want you to be a part of this annual tradition with Deaconess Hospital that raises awareness for prostate and testicular cancers. It's one of the easiest things you can do - it actually encourages laziness - just don't shave for a month.

Here's what you need to do if you'd like to participate in Deaconess's No Shave November.

  • Be completely clean shaven on November 1st, and then simply don't shave for the rest of the month.
  • Send in a photo of yourself at the beginning of the month, and continue to submit photos showing your progress throughout the month.
  • If anybody asks, just tell them why you and Deaconess are doing this. You can even wear a button that will let folks know why your face looks so manly.

Listen to my interview below with Becca Scott and Dr. Joseph Klink from Deaconess. They explain more about the "contest" as well as how you can be proactive when it comes to detecting prostate cancer.

I plan on doing this and I hope you will too. I have had some sort of facial hair since about 1995. Only on a couple occasions have I shaved it off, and only long enough to let it grow back.
