I'm a movie geek. I know more about Star Wars than any one human should. I have seen the Matrix trilogy more times than I would like to count. So you could say I was a little excited to see a reboot of the 'Planet of the Apes' franchise.

So I braved sticky floors and annoying teenagers with cell phones, to venture my way to the local cineplex to check out the reboot. The Markie Mark version wasn't the best, so I was hoping they would 'Batman' this one.

As a movie nerd I have to say, they did a good job with this reboot. The story wasn't lame. Its PG-13, so all the blood and gore you would hope for isn't there. However there are apes attacking people on horses, which has to say a lot for the animation.

You see, none of the apes in the movie are real. Every single one of them were animated by the same crew that animated Lord Of The Rings and Avatar. The movie is also winning the praises from PETA for not using live animals in production (that should get your girlfriend to come along, plus she owes you for some Rom Com crap she made you watch.)

It is also worth noting that the actor who 'played' Gollum in The Lord of The Rings, came back to play the main ape in this movie. He really didn't have to act, instead cameras captured his movement and applied animation. Who said the future is lame?

So if you get a chance, check out Rise of The Planet of the Apes, and let me know what you thought.
